Internal carbon footprint

Carbon Reduction Program

Internal CO2 emissions are calculated using GHG Protocol method and includes direct and indirect emissions related to energy consumption (scope 1 and 2) as well as emissions generated by business travel, office paper consumption and waste generation (scope 3).
In 2022, ALD group internal emissions were 8,410 tons of CO2 equivalent or 1.12 tons of CO2 equivalent per occupant.

Despite the fact that internal emissions represent only a very small fraction of the customers fleet we still aim to reduce our internal carbon footprint as much as possible

The very high degree of internationalization of ALD means that a significant part of our GHG emissions comes from business travel, particularly air travel. As part of our commitment, we have updated our travel policy to promote other means of travel rather than airplanes; as well as a strong incentive for audio or videoconferencing meetings whenever possible.

For commuting related emissions, targeted actions are deployed to promote alternative solutions to the individual use of vehicles. ALD Move is in place in ALD France, ALD Netherlands, ALD Belgium and ALD headquarter. At ALD headquarters and in many subsidiaries, a car-sharing service is in place. In certain subsidiaries employees are provided with electric bikes. A growing number of Group entities have also implementing home office solutions.

Carbon Reduction Program

ALD has successfully concluded the 2014-2020 carbon reduction program (commitment to reduce its greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 25% per occupant in 2020 compared to 2014) cutting GHG emissions of 35% in comparison to 2014.

As part of the Move 2025 strategy, the new target that the ALD Group has set itself in terms of internal emissions reductions is 30% compared to 2019. In 2022, ALD was already reaching the objective by reducing its internal carbon footprint of 34%.
